Jennifer Collier
Jennifer Collier creates a variety of sculptures and objects from vintage recycled paper and stitch; her own contemporary twist on traditional textiles. The found papers act as both the inspiration and the media for the work, old papers are transformed into unique works of art, and new life is given to materials that would otherwise go unused, unloved or be thrown away.
Jennifer completed a BA (hons) in Textiles (Print, Knit and Weave) in 1999 at Manchester Metropolitan University and is one of the founders of Unit Twelve in Staffordshire.
To coincide with Paul Eastwood's exhibition "Unreadings" we commissioned Jennifer to create a series of jugs, spoons and teacups made from the iconic Welsh language children's books created by Mary Vaughan Jones and illustrated by Rowena Wyn Jones. These books were part of a graded reading series by Cymdeithas Lyfrau Ceredigion aimed at helping children to learn Welsh.
