This Large Hand Painted Black Tulip Wooden Welsh Love Spoon has been painted by Hayley Doroshenko in her North Wales based studio.

The traditional love spoon shape is laser-cut from thin plywood with heart cut-out details, and has been sourced from a Welsh company in Cwmbran. Inspired by her Ukrainian and Welsh heritage, as well as her passion for folk art, Hayley hand-paints each spoon with a distinctive floral design.

Historically, love spoons were given as symbols of love and affection. A young man would carefully carve a spoon from wood for his suitor, demonstrating his devotion and showcasing his craftsmanship as a sign of his ability to provide for a future family. Hayley has reimagined this tradition with a contemporary twist, featuring her striking black tulip design while preserving the timeless romantic sentiment.
