Debbie Nairn is a sculptor whose work is inspired by nature, exploring lifecycles and growth through form and line. She has long been fascinated by the intricacies of Mother Nature and the construction of living organisms, particularly the ways in which life grows, its support systems, protection, stamina, defence mechanisms, and instincts.
With a background in ceramics and metalwork from her Applied Art Degree, Debbie draws on both disciplines to inform her sculptures. Debbie uses slip-cast porcelain to create textures reminiscent of a shell or husk—symbols of protection and nourishment at the beginning of life's journey.
