Colin See-Paynton relocated to a secluded farmhouse in Wales in the early 70's where he established his studio. A self-taught engraver, he began producing prints in 1980 and has since created over 250 editions.
Using one of the oldest printmaking techniques, his wood engravings are rooted in detailed observations of nature. His skill lies in crafting compositions that encapsulate the ecological and behavioural dynamics of species and their environments. Through his expertise and creativity, he produces intricate and refined engravings, developing new techniques with patterning and layering.
Commissioned for Mostyn's 25th anniversary in 2004 in an edition of 200. The wood engraving depicts the beautiful Edwardian frontage of Oriel Mostyn, complete with seagulls in flight, all in See-Paynton's signature line work and style.
