Charlotte Manser
Charlotte graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a first-class degree in Ceramics in 2017.
Each piece is wheel thrown in Charlotte’s studio in South Fawley, Berkshire. Charlotte produces small batches of thirty pieces at a time usually over a two-day period. Each batch then needs to dry slowly for a week, before they are fired to 1000 degrees Celsius.
Glazes are mixed from powders, some glaze is poured onto the bisque fired ceramics, and other pieces are dipped into the glaze, to create unique patterns. The final firing is up to 1260 degrees, meaning the ceramics are suitable to be microwaved or washed in a dishwasher.
Charlotte is mindful to ensure her business is as eco-friendly as possible. Any unfired pieces which crack are reformed into usable clay. The kiln is only fired once it is full, and all materials are bought in bulk and recycled/reused wherever possible.
