Alice in Wonderland

In 1861, eight-year-old Alice Pleasance Liddell, the inspiration behind Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland began spending her summers in Llandudno. Her family’s holiday retreat "Penmorfa" stood proudly on the town’s scenic West Shore. The Liddells shared a close friendship with Charles Dodgson, better known by his pen name, Lewis Carroll - the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Though there’s no definitive proof that Carroll visited Alice in Llandudno, many believe the town and her experiences here played a role in shaping his beloved stories. The idea has captivated imaginations for generations, leading to a rich Wonderland heritage in Llandudno.

In 1933, former Prime Minister David Lloyd George unveiled the town’s famous White Rabbit statue, cementing Llandudno’s place in Alice folklore.

Today, visitors to Llandudno can explore themed trails, discover whimsical sculptures, and immerse themselves in the magic of Wonderland with Finding Alice a mixed-reality self-guided experience, right where the real life Alice herself once walked!
